STEM Education Hub

Girls in STEM: Educating Future Scientists is the result of a collaboration between British Council, King’s College London and Museu do Amanhã. The call will offer financial and technical support for projects focussing on girls in primary and secondary schools, and that emphasise incentivising and widening the participation of girls in STEM subjects.

Fifteen Brazilian initiatives will be selected to receive both financial resources and a training course on gender inclusion in science teaching for their leaders, led by expert on gender inclusion Dr Jessica Hamer from the Institute of Physics. The call accepts teachers in basic education, university professors and professionals from science museums and civil society organisations who lead ongoing projects on this theme. This is not a call for new projects. The grant for financial resources will be up to R$12,000 reais.

The training programme will start on the 6 May and will take place across eight weeks. The STEM Education Hub, a partnership between King’s College London and British Council, will lead the training programme. The project leaders that are part of the selected projects will be trained in new approaches to teaching STEM subjects taking into considerations questions of gender.

Submissions will be accepted on the Museu do Amanhã website (Portuguese) between the 31 March until the 25 April. If you have any further questions or would like more information, contact the Museu do Amanhã team via e-mail.

Find more information on how to apply on the British Council website (in Portuguese).
