STEM Education Hub

The STEM Education Hub is excited to be running an interactive event on science capital and the relationship between schools and informal learning spaces on Tuesday 25 May.

This exciting event aims to provide practical insights particularly for teachers and educators in Brazil and the UK. It will begin by discussing the informal learning space versus school context and how rapproachement between schools and museums, research institutions and science centres provide a more complete way of teaching and learning science. The UK and Brazilian contexts will be explored and the way in which the pandemic has affected this relationship examined. This will be followed by a conceptual exploration of science capital and how can this concept be incorporated into learning spaces such as schools, museums and science centres. Please join us for the unique opportunity to share recommendations and reflections between the UK and Brazil.

The event will consist of presentations by experts from the Francis Crick Institute, Museu da Vida and the Open University. Interactive sessions will be led by the Museu da Vida in Brazil and Science Museum Group in the UK.

The event will take place on Zoom between 14.00–17.35 (BST)/10.00–13.35 (BRT) and will have simultaneous interpretation available in both English and Portuguese. Please find the event program here.
